Visit of the pre-incas sites in Northern Peru PDF Print E-mail

In the morning we find our guide who we organised our visits with the previous day: departure on a moto-tricyle for the ruins of an astronomical centre adn some pre-Incan huacas. The cultural break over we get back on the road and stop at play de las tortugas before eventually reaching Huanchaco where we will stay 2 nights. Mema and I make the most of it to visit Chan-Chan, an enormous abandonned city.

Olivier start synthesizing the documents I've handed him. Mema suggests to use the website to raise awareness about the health problems linked to air contamination due to transportation. The H2 Project is moving forward. I start thinking about the next steps but I'm really excited to see other team members involving thmeselves fully the idea of the trip to take it further.

After Huanchaco, we head towards Chiclayo. On our way we divert slightly to visit an old huaca from the Moches, a site with not much architectural interest… No, its wealth is of another kind: a pile of graves with the most important discovered barely a year ago. Billy, our young student-guide (whose enthusiasm and knowledge put him first on our rankig of Peruvian guides!) manages to pass on most of the information in 1h. Our visit to the museum of the graves and of the Lord of Sipan the following day is a pure delight thanks to his lessons. We end the morning completely astonished.

In the evening we arrive just on time to watch the even score between Argentina and Peru. A misunderstanding at the tyre shop wastes 1h of our time; the stated prices are in Peruvian soles apart for one pile of tyres where I chose a pair which prices are indicated in USD (it looks cheaper but it's in fact 3 times more expensive!). The following day, whilst visiting the market, we meet a guy who explains to us all the herbs and their use in Incan medicine. Very interesting.

We leave Piura for Tumbes, our last stage in Peru. The evening is a working session and despite beeing excited about the idea of entering Ecuador, we all quickly fall asleep.
